Virtues of feeding a fasting person in Ramadan

Ramadan is a month of blessings in which a person is rewarded seventy times more for any good deed. Feeding a fasting person in the month of Ramadan has great rewards.

feeding a fasting person in ramadan

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ï·º) once said, "Whosoever feeds another who fasted, in order to break the fast (at sunset), for the feeder there shall be forgiveness of sins and emancipation from the fire of Jahannam (hell), and for such feeder shall be the same reward as the one who fasted (who he fed) without that persons reward being decreased in the least."

Thus feeding a fasting person to break his fast helps in forgiveness of sins and prevent us from the fire of hell, and the reward of fasting, the feeded person gets, will also be given to the feeder.

On listening to this, the companions said, "O messenger of Allah, not all of us possess the means whereby we can give a fasting person to break his fast." Prophet Muhammad (ï·º) replied, "Allah grants the same reward to the one who gives a fasting person to break the fast a mere date, or a drink of water, or a sip of milk."

From this, we came to know that if a person can offer only a single date or a glass of water or some milk to the fasting person to break his fast, then also Allah grant him the same reward.

We should not overlook this opportunity. Whatever we possess, we must share it with our fasting brothers. May Allah give us the courage to keep fast and do good deeds.
