Salatul Hajah | Prayer for solicitation | Method and Dua

What is salatul Hajat ?

Salah that is offered for the fulfillment of a need is called Salatul Hajah (Salatul Hajat) or prayer for solicitation.

In life, everybody has to have some need, big or small, at a given time. If a need is not fulfilled, one has to face frustration and disappointment. Instead of going it alone, one would prefer to seek help from someone capable, competent and willing to help. Who can be more competent than Allah, the Almighty who is All Powerful!

Instead of placing our request before someone who is himself needy, it is wise to place our requirement before one who is free of all wants and is the Creator, Provider and Sustainer. If before the need is pleaded, a solicitous Nafl Salah is offered and then the need pleaded for, Allah makes events take a helpful course.

How to pray Salatul hajat?

Abdullah Ibn Abi Awfa R states that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) has said, "If a person has a need to be fulfilled by man or by Allah, after a solicitous ablution, Salah of two Raka'at is to be offered and Hamd (Praises of Allah) and benediction and blessings for Prophet (ﷺ) to be recited, after which following Dua (supplication) must be recited:
